There's a lot of Resident Evil content for fans of the franchise to interact with outside of the core series of games. From books to movies to the many spinoff titles, there are plenty of different ways for fans to enjoy the series, and earlier this week, Resident Evil: The Board Game was announced.
Created by Steamforged Games, Resident Evil: The Board Game is a tabletop interpretation of the events of the original Resident Evil game. The board game was announced on Tuesday and will begin its Kickstarter campaign later this fall with Steamforged saying that the campaign will be "unlike any" other campaigns that backers have experienced.

Although the specific details about Resident Evil: The Board Game aren't clear just yet, based on its one-minute announcement trailer, it seems to feature several figures from the game's story as well as plenty of zombie figures to occupy the halls of the Spencer Mansion. According to its listing on the Steamforged Games website, the tabletop game will be able to be played by one to four players with games lasting around 90 minutes.
Luckily for those who are waiting for Resident Evil: The Board Game to come out, Steamforged Games has a few other Resident Evil tabletop experiences that might pique their interests. Resident Evil 2: The Board Game is available now and looks like it plays similarly to the upcoming tabletop interpretation of the first game. What's more, Resident Evil 3: The Board Game is available for pre-order as well and will ship in late October.
Steamforged makes plenty of tabletop games based on video games including titles like Horizon: Zero Dawn, Devil May Cry 5, Monster Hunter World, and Dark Souls. Those looking for quicker, card-based experiences have plenty of options available as well as the company offers card games for titles like Pac-Man, Dark Souls, and Sonic the Hedgehog.
The Resident Evil series has had quite the year with Resident Evil Village's release being a strong contender for Game of the Year. Fans of the franchise can look forward to Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, a feature film that will reboot the RE film franchise and retell the stories of the first two game titles. The film is set to release in November and early looks at it in the form of set photos make it seem like it's going to be a faithful interpretation of the video games.
