PlayStation Fan Makes Awesome PS3 Artwork

Just like with any other console community, PlayStation fans are a passionate bunch. The fan base is full of players with immense artistic talent, and one PlayStation fan has put that skill to use with an amazing piece focused entirely on the PS3 and the games that defined it.

The PlayStation 3 had an interesting life cycle, as it initially struggled to keep up with the Xbox 360. A steep price point turned gamers away, while the lack of exclusives at launch made the issue more noticeable. However, as time went on, the PS3 became a hit with fans. More standout exclusives began releasing from developers like Naughty Dog and Sucker Punch, while newer models offered a more favorable price point. As time went on, the PS3 went from a divisive console to a beloved one, with many having fond memories of the system today.

As pointed out by DualShockers, Reddit user Poire_ recently shared an incredible “exploded view” version of the PlayStation 3. On the top layer, the console itself is clearly visible, while all the other layers focus on the games that helped make the PS3 a success. On the bottom floor, Lightining from Final Fantasy 13 is seen walking while Cole Macgrath from Infamous rides on some wires. Sev is depicted fighting some Helghast from the Killzone franchise, while the mysterious, scarf-wearing adventurers from Journey are moving together.

The next layer of the console features more PlayStation icons, with God of War’s Kratos seen fighting some foes with the Blades of Chaos. The Last of Us' Joel and Ellie are also seen battling a clicker on this level, with two of the most critically acclaimed PlayStation franchises sharing the spotlight. On the layer above, Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher from Uncharted are seen in a vehicle, while Demon’s Souls is represented to their left. On their right, the older Solid Snake seen in Metal Gear Solid 4 is crouching on the floor.

With the top layer including Sackboy from the LittleBigPlanet series and even some representation for Fat Princess, a vast majority of the PS3’s exclusive lineup gets some love. Even an Assassin’s Creed reference is included, as Altair can be seen leaping off one layer of the PS3 and into some hay far below. Overall, the artwork is stunning, and it has brought in nearly 13,000 upvotes since it was first posted. For those interested, Poire_ has used this same style of art to make exploded views of the Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360, and other PlayStation consoles.

While there has even no shortage of stunning PlayStation fan art over the years, all the details in this piece make it particularly special. Once the PS5’s life cycle is complete, hopefully Poire_ will return with some art that chronicles all the standout PlayStation exclusives that release this generation.
