As Matt Reeves' upcoming The Batman is set to make an appearance at this year's DC FanDome, a brief teaser debuted to confirm that a new trailer is dropping on October 16th.
Although it wasn't confirmed, fans expected they would get to see new footage of what Reeves and the rest of the team have been cooking up for The Batman. Now, the recently dropped teaser gives plenty of moviegoers reasons to tune in to this year's online event. Last year's DC FanDome featured the debut of the very first trailer for The Batman, which was then still early in production, so now with principal photography wrapped, expect there to be tons of exciting new footage.

The brief teaser, while only 6 seconds long, still creates plenty of hype, as it includes a shot of the Bat-signal flicking on and lighting up the night sky while a voiceover from Pattinson's Batman claims, "It’s not just a signal. It’s a warning." As Pattinson's Caped Crusader delivers this line, a storm rages in the background. A recently dropped DC FanDome teaser featured some glimpses of upcoming DC projects like Black Adam, Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Peacemaker, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, and The Flash, with Pattinson promising many surprises to come for fans who tune in to this event. Andy Muschietti's The Flash will include both Affleck and Keaton's version of the Batman, so maybe a crossover event with Pattinson's incarnation in future films is not so unlikely.
Reeves confirmed that The Batman will take place in Bruce Wayne's/Batman's second year of fighting as he is forced to deal with corruption and tracking down a new enemy known as the Riddler. The film will focus heavily on a noir-driven, detective version of Batman that wasn't explored as in-depth in previous live-action adaptations. There are already two planned sequels and two spin-off television series in early development for HBO Max, with one centering on Colin Farrell's The Penguin. Many fans, judging by the first footage that has been released, feel that Reeves is tonally heading down a darker route, with comparisons made to many of director David Fincher's films.
Other than Pattinson's Batman and Farrell's Penguin, the cast also includes Paul Dano as Edward Nashton / Riddler, Zoë Kravitz as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Jeffrey Wright as James Gordon, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Peter Sarsgaard as district attorney Gil Colson, and Barry Keoghan as young officer Stanley Merkel.
The Batman is set to release in theatres on March 4th, 2022.
