Visage is a horror game currently available on Xbox Game Pass, which makes it a great option for gamers on Xbox and PC. Although there are many great horror games on Game Pass, Visage stands out as one to play. It was released late last year for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, and somewhat flew under the radar. Rather than simply including some of the more psychologically horrific moments to incite a feeling of unease within the player, Visage includes these for a reason. Visage is a psychological horror game not just for gamers looking for their horror fix, but for players who want to immerse themselves within a game world and uncover its secrets.
What Makes A Good Halloween Game
Obviously, a good Halloween game needs to be scary, but there are different variations of horror games, some of which may not fulfill all expectations. An example of this is Dead by Daylight, which definitely offers a hair-raising experience, but its frenetic gameplay ultimately makes it side on campy action rather than full-on horror. Dead by Daylight’s multiplayer experience can be a double-edged sword. While a real player can read the movements and actions of other players better than NPCs, the occasional lag spikes or toxic behavior can break players' immersion. Additionally, playing with friends in general makes it difficult to encourage immersion among players.
Another issue with multiplayer horror games like Dead by Daylight is that there are limited stimuli outside of the killer. As an example, Visage isn’t an open map, it’s a family home with many rooms, which are prone to change due to the psychological aspects of the game. Every element of Visage is aiming to horrify the player and make them feel as though they’re trapped in an inescapable labyrinth.
