One of the nice things about the way that consoles work these days - in particular Xbox consoles - is that when someone buys a new unit, they are able to transfer their accounts from an old one to their new one. When someone signs in to their account on the new console, everything is supposed to transfer over, whether it's the games they purchased (that are playable on the new console) or their Game Pass account; but occasionally an error message saying "the person who bought this needs to sign in" can pop up.
